The Markarian's chain is part of the Virgo Cluster, which counts 1300 ~ 2000 members, and is itself part of the Local Supercluster. The cluster is an aggregrate of at least three separate subclumps: Virgo A centered on M87, Virgo B which surrounds M49 and a third centered on the galaxy M86 (wiki).
In this version annotated using PGC catalog there are more than 250 galaxies in this small field.... crowded place over there. |
