February 22nd, Saturday afternoon. I'm very up 'cause weather forecast says clear sky and moreover last month I miss the turn due to bad weather. The moon is rising at 2:15 am so we have more or less 5 useful hours. The car is ready, all the equipment is in. A kiss to wife and daughter and I start driving. It's a 150Km journey but the site worth it all. Once there I put everything in place and the night come. I frame out the target (M81 and M82), start the first exposure.... and the veils come also :( Ok, let's aim another subjet, M44, and pray for the clouds to go away. After 12 shots the stars definitively disappeared.... gosh... 11:30 pm, I start to put the equipment back in the car. I say to myself 'this is the first time I've to come back home. Sooner or later it had to happen'. But inside I'm sad.... At home I've tried anyway to process the frames and this is the result... an M44 in an M45 way :) ..... a FAIL.... |
